Beginner Guitar Class
This class is for adults and young people (14+) who are either completely new to playing the guitar, or have only been playing a short while.
What you’ll learn:
You’ll learn the basics of playing the instrument, beginning with single note melodies. As the weeks go on, you’ll learn a few chords, some strum patterns and then we can play along to a few songs!
Level:
This course is open to complete beginners - you don’t need any experience at all.
Guitarists who have been playing a year or less can also benefit. There is always a range of abilities in a group setting and so learning material will always include an ‘easy’ option and a more challenging option.

About the tutor:
Gary Lutton is a musician and teacher based in Belfast. He is the winner of Sky Arts’ Guitar Star and holds a PhD in Music from Ulster University.
Gary has toured in Europe, USA and China as a solo artist as well as being a session player for Nitin Sawhney.
He is the director of both the Belfast Guitar Night and Strandtown Music Academy and has 15 years’ teaching experience in various colleges throughout the country including Belfast Met and Ulster College of Music.
